JUDITH CLARKE  ;   CHAIRMAN AND TRAINER

After acquiring a 5 months old rescue puppy from the R.S.P.C.A. Judith decided that, as Midge had had a bad start in life and was nervous, although she was a good little dog she would benefit from socialising at training classes.  Over 6 years later they are still coming to the club, having progressed through the different levels, and are now competing at competition obedience shows, where Midge has already been placed in the line-up on more than one occasion.  Midge is now a happy little dog who enjoys training and the days out at the shows.  Midge also has a Pet Passport, and if anyone needs information about obtaining one, Judith will be happy to speak to them.  Judith has attended various Training Seminars and is able to pass this knowledge on as a train

CATH BEECH  ;  SECRETARY AND TRAINER

Has been a member of the club for over 20 years.  She takes the Puppy and Course Classes.  She has competed in Obedience and Working Trials, and has had several dogs over the years, mainly rescue dogs. Now, in her spare time she trains her two collies, Poppy and Holly, both rescue dogs, and works with the disabled helping their dogs to Assistance dog status.  She has been to the Institute of Professional Dog Trainers and Myerscough College to do Canine Studies N.V.Q.2.  She enjoys training dogs as she considers each one is different and can bring its own problems.

BRENDA HOLDEN ;  TRAINER

Has been coming to the club for many years now and is the owner and trainer of Sasha, a "Westie" and Crystal, a standard poodle.  She has owned a wide variety of breeds over the years and this helps in understanding the different problems related to different breeds.  Brenda competes at obedience competitions with Sasha with good results.  It is rare to see a "Westie" trained beyond pet stage to obedience show standards but it is proof of what can be achieved with patience and perseverance.  Sasha is, to say the least, a character, who is famous within the club for "answering back".  Crystal is still young but has come on leaps and bounds under Brenda's training. The latest addition to the family is Alfie a collie/lab cross, who is showing great potential as far as competing at Obedience Shows is concerned.

FREDA WHITE  ;  TREASURER.

Has had dogs for most of her life.  She first became a member of the club in 1987 with a very lively Border Collie puppy named Danny.  With the help of the club she trained Danny to obedience competition standards.  Later along came Gemma who also competed in obedience competitions.  She now owns Jess and Tara.  Both typical Border Collies with minds of their own, which again, with the club's help are now competing successfully in competitions.  The latest addition to the family is Keira, another Border Collie. All the experience she had obtained training her own dogs plus the Training Seminars she has attended has given her a wealth of knowledge which she can now pass on as a trainer with the club.

ALL OUR TRAINERS HAVE HAD INSTRUCTION FROM A MEMBER OF THE BRITISH INSTITUTE OF PROFESSIONAL DOG TRAINERS.

EDWARD CLARKE

General dogsbody  (his own words).  Good at brewing up and sweeping up.  Feeding treats to dogs a speciality, therefore a favourite with all the classes.  A big support to Judith at shows.

LYNN FARNHILL

Another member of the club who owns and trains "Westies".  Lynn owns Sasha's grandson Jack who is making excellent progress and at the first two shows they were entered in came home with rosettes.

WILF HOLDEN

Married to Brenda and a great support to her at dog shows.  Although he does not compete himself he is always there to be of help in any way he can.  He is a hard worker at the Club and at our twice-yearly Open Obedience Shows.

ELAINE HARGREAVES.

Elaine has been coming to the Club for a couple of years now.  She has trained both her Collies to Kennel Club Good Citizen standard and although does not compete is a hard worker for the Club.

DOT SHORROCKS

The newest member of the Committee.  Dot own two Bedlington Terriers, Rupert and Dora.  Dot shows Dora in Breed and recently won a 3rd with her at Crufts but she is finding that Dora is much happier doing obedience work and has recently started competing at Open Obedience shows with great success.  She is already the proud owner of a couple of rosettes and if Dora carries on as she has been doing they will be the first of many.
